The BID (Business Improvement District) is pleased to partner with Madison Winter Festival to sponsor an ice sculpting exhibition, a favorite for kids and families!
Ice sculptures are carved from solid blocks of ice. A lot of effort goes into making sure that the ice is as clear as possible by using premium quality crystal-clear blocks and taking the time to remove defects in the ice. A chainsaw is one of the primary tools of the modern ice sculptor, as are a variety of other power tools and specialty chisels.
Maurie Pearson of Black River Ice Sculptures will charm and fascinate you with his artistic abilites. Maurie will bring 3 finished ice sculptures and carve 3 more during his 4 hours, the masterpieces will be on display at the top of State Street throughout the weekend.
